Josh's rant...

I hope this finds everyone well...I haven't posted anything in a long time, but I have been busy with other activities.

I mean no harm in this rant and I hope it opens up debate about the topic.

I have read several articles about this subject and I don't see why there are so many problems.
There is a simple solution. At the beginning of the year you have a special assembly and let all the kids know the new rule. You tell them that it is ok to have a cell phone with them at school. You tell them that they can use it in case of an emergency and you lay out what the emergencies would be. Then you tell them that if they have that cell phone out in class (i.e. on their desk, in their hand under their desk, etc) they would have in-school suspension, repeat offenders would get out-of-school suspension, and with each offense their parents would be informed. It would need to be stressed to the teachers that they must be strict and enforce this rule. I think this makes it clear and simple. I could be wrong though...
I would like to hear from the teachers that follow this blog to tell us what they think and observe in the classroom. I would like to hear others opinions as well...
