So, that explains it!!!

Lately, Jacob has been:
  • drooling so much his cheeks and chin are covered with slobber
  • trying to put everything and anything (toys, socks, our fingers, the side of the table, etc.) in his mouth and sucking on his hands hard. (The surgeon who did my ear last week even commented on his loud smacking and said, "If that wasn't a baby making that noise, it would be completely disgusting. But since it's a baby, it's cute!"
  • waking up at night almost as much as he did when he was first born

I've been wondering if it was teething-related, and my suspicion has been confirmed. After trying to feed Jacob this morning and having him get frustrated and fussy for what seemed to be no particular reason, I took a peek in his mouth.. and sure enough, there was a little white line on his bottom gum! A tooth just starting to poke through!

In other news, Josh has been giving him a very little bit of rice cereal every night. He makes a face with every spoonful, but somehow, he still wants to help daddy put the spoon in his mouth and keep eating.

He's still very vocal! He loves to make all kinds of new shrieks, screams, coos, and babbling noises. When he starts, there's no telling when he's going to stop! He will even have a "conversation" with us.. he maintains eye contact and we talk to him and he responds... we talk again, and he responds. It's pretty cute!!

We read Green Eggs and Ham quite often. Usually, he's more interested in watching my face while I read the rhyming words and giggling than he is in the pictures. I had to buy him this Green Eggs and Ham bib at Babies R Us yesterday! His favorite book is still Buzz Buzz Busy Bees, which we saw in Grandma H's collection and ended up taking home with us! I think I could already recite the book forward, backward, and in my sleep! I'm sure Josh could too from listening to it almost every day!

Still loving the Moby Wrap.. sometimes it's the only way to get stuff done! And he loves going around the house and seeing everything from a new perspective! We look like we're dressed for summer here-- we did in fact have a heat wave this week that brought the temps up to the 50s and the heat in our house did not kick down fast enough for us! I guess it didn't help that I had the oven on either!

Blue hooded boys! :)

I think Jacob's waking up now, time to go play! :)

I laughed out loud when I read about how much he talks. Heheheee! Caleb is finally starting to babble constantly, but it took a while.
