My weekend

The last four days have been full of new experiences for me at work! I interned at a hospital in Sioux Falls as a social worker and worked there for three or four months as an employee... but in all that time I had not experienced anything remotely like what I have seen in the last few days at my new job. Constantly being in the ICU and ER is definitely a new experience for me. There have not been any traumas since I started training, so I have not seen that part of the job yet. However, I've now seen three patients being resuscitated and that is hard for me to watch. I feel like it's getting easier, but still seems very surreal. A large part of this job has to do with dealing with the families of these patients. There is a lot to learn, but I think that it is going to be a good job once I get the hang of all of the little details.. (who to call when for what) I am super tired now though because it involves a lot of walking.. something I haven't done much of lately given the cold weather and staying at home with Jacob! It sounds like I will consistently be working 2 weekends per month for now. Josh and Jacob are getting a lot of good bonding time in while I've been gone! :) (Jacob even took more naps..and longer naps for Josh on Saturday than he ever does for me!! Impressive! He's got some good daddy tricks up his sleeve I'll have to find out more about..) It's so good to get home and see a huge grin on Jake's face when I come home! Anyway, off to bed.. I don't have to work tomorrow, but I'm tired!
