My husband is hot. Literally.

So, here's the story... I had to work this past Saturday and so did Josh. We didn't have a babysitter, so his family came up from Kansas City to spend the day with Jacob... (thank you!!!!) Josh wanted to grill some nice steaks for them as a way to thank them for coming on Saturday night. I had called from work to say I would be running late since I was in the middle of something and told him to go ahead and start dinner without me. About 6:30, I was finally able to get away from work and as I was heading to the time clock, I get a call from Josh's dad saying that they are headed to the Methodist ER (That's the hospital that I work at... and I had actually just been working down in the ER!) and that Josh had burned himself on the grill! I met them down there and could smell poor Josh's burned hair from about 10 feet away! :( He was in a lot of pain, but of course still joking around.. (so typical..) and got out of their with a prescription for pain meds and a recommendation for aloe vera. He had been grilling and the grill exploded on his face and arms. He has some red marks on his face, an oozing lip, skin coming off his lips and nose, and little hair left on his arms, but he's okay! The fire had also singed the hair on the front of his head so much that he decided to shave it. So, I thought I'd share a picture! "Poor little guy!" (That's for you, Aunt Marsha)

In happier news, Jacob had a blueberry on his forehead.

He also got to ride a little toy at Lori, Kyle, and Caleb's place! Jacob and I went out last week Wednesday and Thursday and hung out and had a great time!! On the way back, we ended up staying in a hotel by Avoca, IA (about 90 miles from Des Moines) because it was storming so bad! There was a tornado warning about 10 minutes away..where I was actually driving TO, so I stopped at a gas station for a while. After it ended, I kept going but could hardly see a thing.. cars were stopped all over the place with their flashers on and trucks would pass and I couldn't see at all! I HATE driving in bad weather and decided that I would be nuts to keep driving another few hours in that, so we camped out in a hotel room. I'm so glad I didn't keep going because it was storming pretty badly for a few hours after I stopped! Jacob was not a fan of the storm at all, but I couldn't stop.. and by "not a fan" I mean screaming like he's never screamed before! I felt so bad, but I'm glad we made it safely!

Jacob loves "cruising" on the furniture and his toys. He still loves being able to be up on his feet!

In his Thomas the Train Engine pajamas... :) On that note, I'm going to bed.. he has decided that his wakeup time is now before 7:00 a.m. lately! That isn't very compatible with my late bedtimes.. so hopefully I can be in bed by 10!
