The Berry Patch

I had never been berry picking before, but saw a few ads for some pick-your-own berry farms in the area recently. Since it's a great time for strawberries, I took Jake and Isaiah (the little guy I babysit) out to a berry farm this morning. Being that it was in the 90s today, we went mid-morning and only stayed for about a half hour..enough to get a good 16 oz of strawberries.

The boys had a good time but were ready to get out of the heat- I think it was about 86 degrees at the time. They both drank an entire sippy of water on the way back. Jake was so excited that he ran with the bucket to the berry patch. I'm quite sure he didn't know what was really going on, but it sure sounded exciting. :) He was only slightly helpful in picking berries-- I think he picked more white-ish strawberries than red ones. He also enjoyed jumping in a mud puddle (much to my dismay...oh well...boys and their clothes are very washable!) and running down the gravel road. Isaiah had a great time being out there as well! The boys were so energetic that I only had a chance to snap the 3 pictures above and didn't even get Jake's face in any of them! We had a great time, though, and got to take home some tasty strawberries!
